      • Tina Marmolejo says:

If we made more pineapples why are the multiples to make more & where would we put the straps? I am a bigger woman so I thought I might just double the pattern to have 4 pineapples across but would I put the V of the straps at the center of the 2 like the original? Does that make sense?

        • Jane says:

Put the straps in the same position as the original, because our shoulders are not wider than a smaller person’s.

    • Geneve mardirossian says:

I tried to do this lovely top but I had an obstacle .Is it in rounds as in first round it is mentioned to slip ( ch-148, join with sl st to first ch ) or each side worked separately( Join the back and front parts with sl st.) ????

Please answer back as soon as possible since I do love to do this pattern

      • Ana Reaps says:

I believe it’s supposed to be 12dc in round 4 instead of 11dc. I ran in to this issue when I hit round 13 and I said I should be doing 2 ch4 spaces, and realized I already had only 2 in round 12!

        • Ana Reaps says:

P.s. I just saw that round 5 says, “DC ch1 IN BETWEEN the previous row” however when I zoomed in on the pic saw that they are worked into the top of the stitches as usual. Maybe this I where I went wrong?

  1. Cece says:

Very nice design! I need a bit of help though on the neckline and straps. I’m assuming they are stitched individually one side at a time because there are no repeat ** stars. I stopped at row 13 and did a bind off. Attempting the back neckline and strap but not sure it this is correct. Please advise! Thanks!

    • Jane says:

The top made in one size (S). Make 148 chains. You can add more chains between pineapples parts or change the yarn weight and hook size.

      • Susan Nash says:

Your work is amazing and I love the way it’s almost all easily adaptable to many sizes. Kudos to you and your mother on another post for showing us how that piece can be adjusted to fit both you (as our many years ago body) and her (as our current body while still wanting to be fashionable but not look like we’re trying to be a fraction of our age!) . This piece could be made wider by making more pineapple sections as well as your other suggestions. Over 70% of American women are considered ‘plus size’, and for some crazy reason manufacturers absolutely started making clothes smaller several years ago and left out the older ladies or curvier bodies of any age – dumb move, we are their market base and proud of how we looK! NOW they’re getting it, and making a large fit like a large, not an extra small!! We all come in various shapes/sizes but love clothes that fit well, and to be able to crochet pieces like some of yours makes us proud and is fun! I plan to make a couple of your tops as nightgowns, and the short one just make it longer to wear it anywhere. Tthx so much for the free patterns!

  2. Laura Fion says:

This is a beautiful top, thank you for sharing! I’m not sure of the hook sizes though, at one point you mention #3 and #4 hooks, which would be D (3.25mm) and E (3.5mm) but at the top you write 3mm and 4mm hooks. Which is correct please? And if it is the latter, where might one find 3mm? Thank you!

    • Jane says:

Each yarn weight has recommended corresponding sizes of crochet hooks. You should use the hook that corresponds to the yarn.

  3. anon says:

I’m confused about what to do for the neckline/straps. I did rows 1-18, repeated 2-12 like it says. But the next thing just says to sl st into the next chain 2 space, then 2 dc in the next ch 2 space. But… the yarn is still attached to the side of the top between some chain 7’s. So this makes no sense. If I’m supposed to bind off and join somewhere else, where??

  4. Nancy Mizell says:

Absolutely the most beautiful “blouse” ever! I must say it scares me, not sure my skills are up to it…but will try to make it after my new grandbaby projects are finished. Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful design. And its free!! WOW!!

  5. Susie newhall says:

I want to add an extra pineapple but I don’t know how many chains to add to my foundation chain….. Does anyone have any advice?

  6. Linda T says:

I am attempting to do the neck, but am unsure how to proceed. If I bind off after tep of 2-12, where do I begin to work rows 1-13? Do I make 4 of these? And where are they to be attached? I am stumped on this one and am in a rush to get this completed. I will appreciate a timely response…thanks so much!

Make 2 front straps as mirror images of each other, make 2 back straps in the same way.

Thank you…do i just begin row 1 where i left off after round 12? Still confused about how/where to attach, and if the pattern you just listed is the strap and/or neckline?then i would repeat rows 1-13 3 more times? Am i correct in thinking each row starts in center and works outward? In row 1, should therr be a chain 7 after sl st in ch2 space, before 2dc in next ch2 sp, ch2, 2dc in same space? Thanks again…

    • Carrie says:

Bind off after row 12, then begin in a ch2 space near/before a pineapple in front or back to start the neckline/ straps. You’ll repeat 1-13 of the neckline three times for a total of 4 because there are 4 straps :) front and back are the same. I’m on this part now, it took me a minute to figure it out.

Hi, i just had a little problem with this pattern. I used an F hook because i don’t have the required hook, but i figured it would be fine since is it a very small difference. I do not know what weight my yarn is, but my problem was the more i worked on the mid section, the bigger is got. i wanted a small, and it ended up being a medium. i haven’t added the straps yet, because i don’t know what to do. It’s way too big for the intended person, and i don’t want to start over because it took me a long time. Is there anyway to make it smaller without ripping out that many stitches? Thank you soo much for the lovely pattern!

There I sadly no way to make I smaller unless you used 100% cotton yarn, in which case blocking with solve your issue.

On a side note, all hooks are within .25mm-.75mm of each other. There’s a reason there are so many, even a slight Chang can make a big difference! I’d suggest looking in to a bulk pack of the smaller sizes at your local craft store. They’re only about $8-$10 in my area and come with 5-7 hooks :)

Beautiful top! Too bad the written pattern doesn’t match the picture. I reworked it and rewrote it to suit myself. I’m definitely going to make another one and add beading to the clusters and pineapples.
