I have been looking for a beanie pattern that I liked for a couple of years. I woll definitely be trying this one. Thank you. Is this a worsted weight yarn?

At first I chained 94 as written but found it too big so I just let some out until it fit my head. After doing the 7 fpdc, etc., I found it to be a little snug but kept going. Since I didn’t chain 94 I found that when it came time to do rows 8-13 I was off by 3 open stitches but dc them to finish round. I’m not sure if this is going to turn out right but I’m sure I can fix the fit by either incr/recreas.
My question: IF 94 is too big, does the first beginning chain need to an even number in order for the pattern to work as written? (I hope this makes sense).
I’m almost finished with the hat and love the look so far. This was my first time doing “fpdc/bpdc” and I love the look!!!
Thanks for sharing the pattern but need advice.

Oh boy, my hat does NOT even come close to ending!!
        On your patter beginning
Round 14-16: ch-2, dc in next 3 dc, dc2tog, *dc in next 4 dc, dc2tog, repeat from* around, join with sl st to top of ch 2
Do you mean to skip 3 then dc in next chain space then 2 together? Because I followed every round as written and it just kept increasing in size. And now I’m at Round 20-21 and there is no way this is going to close.
As I look at your photo it should be decreasing close to the end but mine is not.
Mine looks like a skirt fit for a young girl.

        PLEASE help

        Thank you,
        Again, nancy

          Hello Nancy!
Looks like you didn’t make dc2tog from round 14.
Round 14-16: ch-2 (as a first dc), make 1 dc in next 3 stitches, then make 2 dc crochet together in next 2 stitches it’s mean:
yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over, pull through the stitch only (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over, insert hook into second stitch, yarn over, pull through the stitch only (4 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops (3 loops on hook), yo, pull through all 3 loops. Double crochet 2 together made.
As you can see, this stitch takes 2 stitches and turns them into just 1 stitch. This way you will make each round smaller from 14 to bottom.
