Today I want to share with you how to crochet this beautiful white sweater. You will find step by step photos and detailed directions so you can do it yourself.  The relief texture makes this sweater super soft and cozy. I’ve used a pretty popular construction method – raglan top down construction. The body and sleeves were crocheted separately in the round from the top down. Enjoy!

Sleeves – Make two
Crochet hook #4.
I’ve made 10 rounds of the pattern for each sleeve. If you want to make long sleeves, you just need to crochet more rounds.crochet sweater pattern

Change the hook (#3). Work 1 dc in each dc of previous round skipping all tc. Then repeat round 48 three times.

Finish with one row of sc around the neck.

The pattern will usually specify the type of yarn and hook size to use. (100 grams/300 meters, crochet Hook: 3 mm, 4 mm).If you can’t find the yarn, just can use the similar yarn (search for the yarn according to specified parameters).

I love the look of this and want to try it out!
Can you please clarify if you are using US or UK terms? I’ve been in trouble with this before… :)
    Thanks!

  4. Sarah says:

In row two, when you triple crochet and then go back and double crochet, do you double crochet the skipped stitches from the first one you skipped forward, or the last skipped stitch backward? Does that make sense? It changes the look of the pattern. So I was curious before I continued with the pattern. Thanks! Love the sweater.

  5. Michelle says:

I really love the look of this stitch, I would love to try make a baby afghan with it. Could you tell me what the multiples would I need for my starting chain?

  6. Kathy says:

I have been crocheting for more than 40 yrs and I’ve never heard of a size S crochet hook. It that from the UK? What size would you advise instead?

  7. toni lacentra says:

can this be made into a full XL? love this sweater but I am a full figured gal…somewhere between an XL and a women’s 1X.

  8. Daisy says:

I’m following the instructions but on the last section of round 2 where in finishing the last sleeve I’m left with way more than 7 sets. Can’t figure out why either. Can anyone help shed some light?

  9. Vicki says:

Hi. I think this sweater is great, I want to make this for my daughter, but NO WHERE online is there any connection to being able to buy the gazzal yarn? Maybe I’ve missed something because no one asks this, so could you please advise? thanks

When you chain 114 and sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each ch across, there are 113. Or is the slipstich counting as 114th one?

  11. Linda says:

thank you for sharing your pattern. I see in row 13 you reference larger sizes are these standard body measurements for med & large sizes relating to the small body measurements?

  12. Peg says:

when going back and doing the DC in the skipped stitches, do you go in from the back? because when I go in from the front you can not see the TC that crosses over

  13. Peg says:

Hi Jane, LOVE LOVE Love this sweater! I am determined to make it. After frogging it so may times today. I wonder what I am doing wrong. when you say “turn your work” are you now working in the opposite direction? (back the same way you just came?) if so why are my TC ending on the wrong side of my sweater? please help

  14. Cindy G. says:

I just saw this completed sweater over on Craftster, and popped on over to see the larger images. I’ve never made an actual garment before (scarves and hats don’t count :) ), but after looking at the progress pictures, it looks like I could actually make this one. Thanks for sharing such a pretty pattern and writing out such detailed instructions!

  15. Nichole Simpson says:

Love love this sweater starting to make jjust have a quick question on round two where you skip three stitches then do a TC do you put 2dc in each skip stitch or 1dc n each stitch.

    Thanks

Hello, I love this pattern. What are the sizes for this sweater or how can I make this sweater to the size I need. Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks

anybody else have a problem with the 114 sts? i keep having having an extra sts left at the end i’ve done the round 2 about 10 times now and i keep having about 6 extra stitches left

  18. K says:

Finding this confusing. At the end of row 2 do you add the 2dc ch 1 2dc shell? If so, when you turn, you ss into the first half of that shell, and if you join to first dc at the end of that round, you skip over it entirely. Then in row 4, there is no space between 2dc and 3dc. It’s either the space between 2 tc pattern sections or a complete shell, depending on what you do in round 3. Am I missing something here? Sever of us have tried this pattern now with no success.

  19. ShimmeringBlueMoon says:

Hello there! I adore this sweater pattern, and several of your paid patterns. I am hesitant to purchase though, since I am having a hard time understanding the writing style of this one. I too am having problems with the second wrong, at the last set of repeats, I end up with 7tc, but then I have a good 4-5 stitches left over. Do we put a double v stitch in at the end too? If so, I still have stitches left over. I keep trying, but can’t get it right without help. Also, I can’t seem to figure out the beginning of the next 2 rows as well. It looks as if we do not have a double v there, but since this is raglan style, it needs an increase there, right? Please help! This is such an amazing sweater and I know more people would be able to make it with a little more clarity on the first several rows. Thank you for sharing with us!

Thank you vary much Jane. looooooove it. but unfortunately I can only work with drawing pattern. I can not figure out pattern by following the description. is it possible to add a small drawing of the main pattern of this nice sweater?
I am eagerly looking forward to it :)

  21. macaklin says:

It is very beautiful patern, but i have a problem with row 5, (“6 times, tc in the space between 2 dc and 2 dc, dc in the space between 2 dc and 3 dc, dc in next 2 dc (9 tc)”), do you skip all those stitches and then go back or whar? how do you have 9 tc at the end?

  22. Meme says:

I have done this stitch pattern in a beautiful rug and it was stunning but seeing it in this sweater makes it visually even more so. Thank you for the fabulous pattern
