Have you ever found a few skeins of yarn in your stash and still have no idea what to do with? So this pattern for you! This crochet blanket pattern is very simple and perfect for beginners. Just crochet a “grid” and make colorful “snake” on it. Also it is a good way to utilize leftover yarn.

MATERIALS:

Yarn: Alize Cotton Gold, Sport / 5 ply, 55% Cotton, 45% Acrylic, 360 yards / 100 grams – 330 grams

Crochet Hook: 4 mm

Size: flower part – 74 x 76 cm or 29 x 30 in

Stitches Used: ch-chain, sl st-slip stitch, sc-single crochet, dc-double crochet

PATTERN:

Crochet “a grid”

Chain multiple of 2+3 (150+3)

Row 1: ch-153, dc in the 4th chain from the hook, * ch-1, skip next ch, dc in next dc **, rep from * to ** to the end of the row

Crochet Blanket Free Pattern

Row 2: ch-4, turn, dc in next dc, * ch-1, dc in next dc **, rep from * to ** to the end of the row

Rep Row 2 until you’ll reach the desired length

Crochet a “snake” on the “grid”

Connect the yarn to any corner of the blanket. Do not crochet tight:

* ch-1, sc in next dc ** rep from * to ** to the last but one, ch-1, sc in the last but one dc, ch-1, sc in next ch-1 of next row of the grid, turn, rep from * to ** to the end of the row

    This simple idea is actually MOST creative ! :)
    I think, however, that I’d probably find myself getting out-of-count (so to speak) with the grid; and the idea of needing to check every row is a bit off-putting …
    That being said, it really is appealing; so perhaps I’ll give it a burl and see …
