Crochet crop tops are so popular these days. So, if you know how to crochet granny squares you will be able to make this top. This is a beginner friendly pattern and will work up really quickly! I created the top to match with my future bright bikini but it hasn’t came yet so I decided to take a photo in my nude bra but I’m sure the colorful bikini top will look gorgeous with this crochet crop top!
The pattern is written using American crochet terms for a XS and S sizes but the top is easily adjusted by adding additional squares.

If you want a more covered top you should connect granny squares this way: crochet a band of granny squares according to your under bust measurement, then start forming the bust line (for one side): first row – 2 granny squares, second row – granny square + a half of granny square, third row – a half of granny square.
Make a row of shell stitches around the bottom: shell st in any ch space, * sc in the second dc, shell st in next ch space **, repeat from * to ** around, join with sl st to the 1st st
Make a row of shell sts around the back and neck line
Make halter straps this way: crochet foundation dc desired length and sew them to the top. See how to crochet foundation dc HERE
The half granny square is kind of confusing. Did you turn after every row?
yes :)
Thanks! I still feel like I’m doing something wrong, but I’ll try it again.
