CROCHET LACE CARDIGAN FREE PATTERN

MATERIALS:

Yarn: Rainbow Cotton 8/8– 350 grams (8 skeins)

Weight: Aran

Yardage: 75 meters

Unit weight: 50 grams (1.76 ounces)

Hook size: 5.0 mm (G)

Fibers: 100% Cotton

Texture: plied

Stitches Used: ch – chain, sl st – slip stitches, sc – single crochet, dc – double crochet, tc – triple crochet, sc2tog – 2 sc crochet together, dc2tog – 2 dc crochet together, dc3tog – 3 dc crochet together

Size: S-M, height –50 cm, width — 34 cm, shoulders strap and sleeve —19 cm

MAIN PATTERN

The number of stitches a multiply of 4+1 and depend on the desired length of the cardi

Row 1: make foundation 49 sc

Row 2: ch-1, turn, sc in each sc to the end of the row

Row 3: ch-4, turn, * skip next sc, ch-1, dc in next sc **, repeat from * to ** to the end of the row

Row 4: ch-1, turn, sc in each st to the end of the row

Row 5: ch-1, turn, sc in each sc to the end of the row

Row 6: ch-3, turn, dc in next sc, ch-5, skip next sc, * dc3tog in next 3 sc, ch-5, skip next sc, **, repeat from * to ** to the end of the last 3, in the end of the row dc2tog in the last 2 sc

Row 7: ch-7, turn, sc in the 1st ch-5 space, * ch-5, sc in next ch-5  space **, repeat from * to ** to the last ch-5 space, ch-3, tc in the last st

Row 8: ch-3, turn, dc in the ch-3 space, ch-1, * 3 dc in next ch-5 space, ch-1 **, repeat from * to ** to the end of the row, 2 dc in the last ch space

Row 9: ch-1, turn, sc in each st to the end of the row

Repeat Rows 2-9 until you’ll reach the desired length. NOTE: you should finish with Rows 3,4,5

I crocheted 79 cm.

SHOULDERS STRAPS

Mark the places for the shoulders straps

Connect the thread to the marked place and crochet 12+1 sc and repeat the main pattern from the 2nd to the 9 rows, I made 26 rows. Connect the strap to the back part by sl st

SLEEVES

Start working in rounds

Round 1: make a row of sc around the armhole, the number of stitches a multiple of 4 I made 60 sc, in the end of the round join with sl st to the 1st sc

Round 2: ch-1, sc in each sc to the end of the round, join with sl st to the 1st sc

Round 3: ch-4, * skip next sc, ch-1, dc in next sc **, repeat from * to ** to the end of the round, join with sl st to top of ch-3

Round 4: ch-1, sc in each st to the end of the round, join with sl st to the 1st sc

Round 5: ch-1, sc in each sc to the end of the round, join with sl st to the 1st sc

Round 6: ch-2, dc2tog in next 2 sc, ch-5, * skip next sc, dc3tog in next 3 sc, ch-5 **, repeat from * to ** to the end of the round, join with sl st to top of ch-2

Round 7: sl st in next ch-5 space, ch-3, 2 dc in same space, ch-1, * 3 dc in next ch-5 space, ch-1 **, repeat from * to ** to the end of the round, join with sl st to top of ch-3

Round 8: ch-1, sc in each st to the end of the round, join with sl st to the 1st sc

Round 9: ch-1, sc in each sc to the end of the round, join with sl st to the 1st sc

Round 10 (decreasing round): ch-3, skip next sc, dc in next sc, ch-1, * skip next sc, (dc in next  sc, ch-1, skip next sc) repeat twice, dc2tog with skipped sc between them in next 3 sc, ch-1 **, rep from * to ** to the end of the round, join with sl st to top of ch-3

Round 11-12: sc rounds (I’ve got 48 sc)

If you want to make longer sleeves repeat the pattern from the 3rd round to the 12th round, also you can make a decreasing round or don’t make it, it depends on the width of your arm.

Round 13: the number of sts a multiple of 4,  ch-3, 3 dc in same space, skip next 3 sc, * sc in next sc, ch-3, 3 dc in same space, skip next 3 sc **, repeat from * to ** to the end of the round, join with sl st to the 1st st

NECKLINE

Start working in rows. Make 2 rows of sc, then repeat the 3rd row of the main pattern, 2 rows of sc, then I made 2 decreasing rows (it’s Round 10 of the sleeves pattern) with 2 rows of sc between them and finished the neckline with 2 rows of sc.

BOTTOM

Make two rows of sc, then repeat Rows 3-5 of the main pattern and Round 13 of the sleeves pattern

BUTTONS

Round 1: make a magic ring, ch-1, 5 sc into the ring, join with sl st to the 1st sc

Round 2: ch-1, sc in each sc around, join with sl st to the 1st sc

Round 3: ch-1, sc2tog in next 2 sc, sc2tog in next 2 sc, sc in the last sc

Crochet 3 buttons and sew them to the neckline.

    I am looking forward to making this beautiful pattern. I do not see a gauge swatch measurement though, so I am not sure I want to jump in without knowing if my grament will be the right size. What’s the gauge?
