Do you like Forever 21 style? I do. That is why I used their design as an example for my new top. I changed the back part pattern and “wings” strap part. The back part of the original top is too lace and if you wear a bra it will see-through, so I decided to fix it. Also, I changed the butterfly instead of the spider in the front part of the top because I love butterflies more :) The width of the front and the back parts are the same and you will be able to make a light blue top.

Back Part
Row 1: foundation dc – 108 dc

Row 3-33: ch-2, turn, dc in next dc, * ch-1, dc in next 2 dc **, re from * to ** to the end of the row
Lay the front and back parts down right sides together and sew them by sl st (side seams)
Shoulder straps
Mark the places for the shoulder strap. Start crocheting from the front part. Skip 5 ch-2 spaces from the seam:
Row 1: (3 dc in next ch-2 space, ch-2) rep 3 times, 3 dc in next ch-2 space
Row 2: ch-1, turn, sl st in next dc, sl st in next ch-2 space, ch-3, 2 dc in same space, (ch-2, 3 dc in next ch-2 space) rep 3 times
Row 3: ch-1, turn, sl st in next dc, sl st in next ch-2 space, ch-3, 2 dc in same space, (ch-2, 3 dc in next ch-2 space) rep once
Row 4: ch-1, turn, sl st in next dc, sl st in next ch-2 space, ch-3, 2 dc in same space, ch-2, 3 dc in next ch-2 space
Row 5: ch-1, turn, sl st in next dc, ch-3, dc in next dc, ch-1, dc in next 2 dc
Row 6-36: ch-3, dc in next dc, ch-1, dc in next 2 dc
Join by sl st to the back part. Skip 9 ch-1 spaces from the seam.
Make a row of ch-3 space around the armhole this way:
Row 1: join the thread from the back part of the top and start crocheting *ch-3, skip next 3 sts, sc in next st ** rep from * to ** to the 1st ch-3 space, ch-1, dc in the 1st ch-3 space, turn
You must have 16 ch-3 spaces across the shoulder strap
Row 2: ch-5, turn, sc in next ch-3 space, * ch-5, sc in next ch-3 space **, rep from * to ** until you’ll reach 14 ch-5 spaces, ch-2, dc in next ch-3 space
Row 3: ch-5, turn, sc in next ch-3 space, * ch-5, sc in next ch-3 space ** rep from * to ** until you’ll reach 13 ch-5 spaces, ch-2, dc in next ch-5 space
Row 4: ch-5, turn, sc in next ch-3 space, * ch-5, sc in next ch-3 space **, rep from * to ** until you’ll reach 12 ch-5 spaces, ch-2, dc in next ch-5 space
Row 5: ch-5, turn, sc in next ch-3 space, * ch-5, sc in next ch-3 space **, rep from * to ** until you’ll reach 11 ch-5 spaces, ch-2, dc in next ch-5 space
The 6 row of the strap must be the right row
Row 6: sc in the 1st ch-5 space, * 3 dc in next ch-5 space, ch-1, 3 dc in same space, sc in next ch-5 space **, rep from * to ** 5 times (6 shells)
Make a row of sc around the armhole. Crochet the second strap.
Make a row of ch-3 spaces around the neckline, then crochet a row of sc around.
The last row (bottom)
Row 1: join the thread to any dc, ch-4, skip next dc, * dc in next dc, ch-1, skip next dc ** rep from * to ** to the end of the round, join with sl st to top of ch-3
Ch-350, sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook, sl st in each ch to the end of the row, cut the thread and use as a tie.

You need to put the sizes in your pattern.
XS,S,M & the amount of yarn that will be used to crochet the top.
Thank You for tje Pattern 💜
What size is this top
What size is this?
XS-S

Hi so lovely pattern but I’m afraid I am stuck – I have a thicker yarn it seems when I made 108 chains it was too big, about an inch too big, what do you suggest for a smaller size for this? how many chains should I reduce? Thank you.
how many chains is would be ok to your size?
How many chain if i want to have it in large or x large
Sorry but this pattern is worked for S,M sizes. You can use thicker yarn but I’m not sure how it will work.
I i’m having trouble with the sizing. I bought the exact yarn that you used and started out with a size D crochet hook and then went to a C and it is still coming out to Big. With a C it comes out to 18 inches wide. I need it to be 15 inches or 15 3/4. What is the gauge for this pattern. Thank you for your help.
Gauge is 26.0 sts = 4 inches. Maybe you should try to decrease the top from the sides. Because I crochet with too-tight tension :)
I dibt get it using 3mm hook same yarn and it measures 25 inches 🤔
I think you crochet too loose for this pattern. You should crochet tighter or change the yarn and crochet hook on smaller ones.
how do i make this pattern smaller the size indicated would be too big. the girl is about a size 9. any suggestions
You should decrease the top from the sides.
Quick question. Could the body of the piece be worked in one piece instead of two pieces that need to be sewn together? My seams always look wonky, and it looks like that might work. I’m thinking about using the Alize Bella Ombre, which seems to be one long color fade. My daughter would love that!
Yes, sure, you can try to crochet it in one piece but I think you should turn your work after each round to get the solid pattern when you start making shoulders straps in rows. I hope this help :) And I adore Alize Bella Ombre! It will be great to see your top :)
I am boggled i have done foubdstion 108 and its 20 rows dc and its, supposed to be butterfly part 🤔plus it nessures big enough for a 50 inch bust. Whats going on with thid pattern any advice welcomed
I answered above :)
I have started this crotchet top, my tension is 26 st to 4 in as you say. It is measuring 18″ in width.
If you divide 108 stitches by 26 ( your tension) you get 4.15 and multiply 4.15 by 4 you get 16.6″. Not what you have stated in the pattern. That is why all your comments are saying their crotchet is too big. I am using a 3 ply cotton and a 3 mm hook and my work measures 18″. But my tension is 26 sts to 4 in in width.
I am now going to undo my work and use a smaller needle.
This is my second time around trying this pattern. First time i completed the whole blouse and fit for a 2x size person. This time I’m using a 2mm hook size and light yarn weight 1 following pattern as directed and still getting 24.5 inches in length. I’ve completed 3 rows. Going to unravel and try an even smaller hook size.
Correctioon* 24.5 inches in width
Wow people, it is two rectangles and some straps!! Make the starting chain whatever size you need it to be and go from there. I very much appreciate the pattern and the person who took the time to write it. My granddaughter will love it.
thanks :)
There seems to be a problem with the gauge so my end result is a little larger than desired but that’s okay! I al a little confused by the “Butterfly” instructions for the open work in the center of the chest. What is described looks nothing at all like what is shown in the photos. Am I the only one that had an issue with that?
Please watch the video tutorial on my YouTube channel. Maybe it will help.
