Many of us think that crochet shorts are only for the beach, but why not wear them at the beginning of autumn :) Imagine how and where would you wear them! With this crochet shorts pattern you can easily make your own shorts really quick (it took me 2 evenings).
As for me, I’m going to make another pair of shorts for colder autumn weather – a little bit longer, but I’m not sure which color should I choose dark brown or black. Anyway, they will surely look good with a leather jacket, knee hight boots and tights. What do you think?
Materials:
Yarn: Alize Bella Fingering / 4 ply 100% Cotton 196 yards / 50 grams – 2 skeins
Crochet Hook Size: 2,1 mm
Item Size: S
Width – 34 in or 86 cm
Length – 7,5 in or 19 cm
Stitches Used: ch-chain,sl st-slip stitch,dc-double crochet, V-st-v-stitch (2 dc with ch-1 between in same space)
Pattern:
ch in multiples of 16 until you reach desired width (160, 176, 192, 208, 224, 240)
ch-192, join with sl st to the 1st ch
Round 1: ch-5, skip 3 chs, sc in next ch, * ch-4, skip 3 chs, sc in next ch **, repeat from * to ** around, join with sl st to the 1st ch (48 ch-4 spaces = 12 pineapples)
Round 2: sl st in ch-4 space, ch-4, dc in same space, * ch-3, V-st in next ch-4 space, ch-3, 3 dc in next ch-4 space, ch-1, 3 dc in next ch-4 space, ch-3, V-st in next ch-4 space **, repeat from * to ** around, join with sl st to the 1st V-st
Round 3: ch-4, dc in same space, * ch-3, V-st in next V-st, ch-3, sc in next dc, ch-3, skip 1 dc, sc in next dc, ch-3, sc in next ch-1 space, ch-3, sc in next dc, ch-3, skip 1 dc, sc in next dc, ch-3, V-st in next V-st ** repeat from * to ** around, join with sl st to the 1st V-st

Repeat from round 4 to round 8 (3 rounds of pineapples). End on the 7th round.
Crochet the gusset 6,5 in or 16,5 cm and join to the opposite side of the shorts.
Make a row of the pineapples around the leg holes.
Then make the last row this way: * 5 dc in the top of the pineapple, sc in next ch-3 space, (5 dc in next V-stitch, sc in next ch-3 space) repeat once **, repeat from * to **, join with sl st to the 1st st
Go back to the top of the shorts:
Round 1: sl st in any ch space, ch-4, dc in same space, ch-2, * V-st in next ch space, ch-2 **, repeat from * to ** around, join with sl st to the 1st V-st
Round 2: ch-4, dc in same space, ch-2, * V-st in next V-st, ch-2 **, repeat from * to ** around, join with sl st to the 1st V-st
Round 3-4: ch-4, dc in same space, ch-1, * V-st in next V-st, ch-1 **, repeat from * to ** around, join with sl st to the 1st V-st
Round 5: ch-4, dc in same space, * V-st in next V-st **, repeat from * to ** around, join with sl st to the 1st V-st
Round 6: ch-1, sc in next V-st, sc in each V-st and in the place between 2 V-sts around, join with sl st to the 1st sc

Just an fyi to anyone who is making these in a larger size, you will need to add 32 chs to the 192 otherwise the legs will come out uneven. The pattern repeat is 16, but this will only increase one side of the shorts.
